Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 21, 2026
Ride Club is a community app for vehicle enthusiasts. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We try to use plain language; if anything is unclear, ask us.
Quick summary:
- We collect what we need to make the app work.
- We don't sell your personal data — not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- The mobile app shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the service free. AdMob has its own data practices, described below.
- We connect members with relevant partner offers — local shops, dealers, and manufacturers reach riders who actually need their services. Partners never receive your personal data, only aggregated counts.
- You can delete your account at any time, and your data goes with it.
What we collect
Account information. When you sign up, we ask for an email address and a display name — no password. Each time you sign in, we email you a one-time code to enter. You can optionally add a profile photo and a short bio.
Vehicle information. Whatever you tell us about your rides — make, model, year, modifications, mileage, maintenance notes. You control what's visible to friends, clubs, or the public.
Location data. When you use features that need it — like the live map, sharing a ride, or finding nearby riders — we use your device's location while that feature is active. You can disable location access in your phone's settings at any time. We don't track your location in the background without your knowledge.
Activity in the app. Clubs you join, ride logs, routes you save, messages you send, photos you post. We store these so the features work.
Device and usage info. Device type, operating system version, app version, crash reports, basic usage patterns. We use this to fix bugs and improve the app.
Launch notification email. If you join the waitlist to be notified when we launch, we store the email address you provide. We use it only to send the launch announcement and (rarely) pre-launch updates.
How we use it
- To run the features you're using — your rides, your maps, your clubs, your messages.
- To diagnose bugs, fix crashes, and make the app better.
- To contact you about your account, security issues, or major changes to the service.
- To send launch announcements (only if you joined the waitlist).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
How we share it
With other Ride Club users: only what you choose to share. Your clubs see club content; your friends see what you make visible to friends; the public sees what you make public.
With service providers: we use a small number of third parties to run the service (hosting, push notification delivery, email). They only receive the data they need to do their job and aren't permitted to use it for anything else.
For legal reasons: if we're legally required to disclose information (court order, lawful subpoena, etc.), we will. We'll push back on overbroad or unnecessary requests.
Ads in the mobile app
The mobile app shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the service free. AdMob is a Google service, and the data it collects to serve and measure ads is governed by Google's privacy policy, not ours.
AdMob may collect:
- A device-level advertising ID, which you can reset or limit in your phone's settings.
- IP address and approximate location.
- Device type, operating system, and app version.
- Interactions with ads (impressions, taps).
You can manage ad personalization in your device settings. On iOS, the app must request permission before tracking (Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking) — declining means you'll see non-personalized ads. On Android, ad personalization is controlled under Settings → Google → Ads.
Ads only run in the mobile app. The website (rideclub.app) does not show ads and does not use advertising cookies.
Partner offers
The goal of partner offers is simple: connect members with meaningful discounts on the services and goods they actually want — when they need them — while helping our partner network reach the riders who are genuinely in the market for what they offer.
We may work with partners — local dealers, parts retailers, manufacturers, service shops — to deliver targeted offers to users who match certain criteria. For example, a local shop might run an oil-change discount for motorcycle riders within a 50-mile radius whose mileage shows they may need service soon.
How it works:
- The partner describes the criteria they want to reach.
- We identify users who match. The partner does not see individual users.
- We deliver the offer to matching users in the app (push notification or in-app message).
- If you choose to redeem the offer, you decide what (if anything) to share with the partner at that point.
What partners see: only aggregated counts during campaign design (e.g., "approximately 1,200 users match"). Partners never receive names, emails, contact info, location trails, or any identifier that points to an individual.
How long we keep it
- Account data: as long as your account exists.
- Location and ride logs: as long as your account exists, unless you delete them sooner.
- Crash and usage logs: up to 90 days.
- Waitlist email: until you ask us to remove it.
When you delete your account, we delete your data from active systems within 30 days. Backups may take up to 90 days to fully cycle out.
Your rights
You can:
- See what we have about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account and everything in it.
- Export your data.
- Manage ad personalization through your phone's settings (see "Ads in the mobile app" above).
Use the controls in the app for most of these, or email us at [email protected].
Children
Ride Club isn't intended for people under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have data on a minor, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll notify you in the app and update the date at the top. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
